EDER ON FIRST RUNOUT AND FIRST GOAL OF SEASON

The Italy man discusses his goalscoring return to the side: "I hadn't played for over a month but besides my personal satisfaction we performed well as a team"

LIMERICK - Eder could hardly have asked for more on his return to the starting line-up: a goal and a win in his first game since the European Championship.

And indeed there were plenty of positives for the Italy striker to chew over after he netted the opening goal in the Nerazzurri's 2-0 defeat of Celtic on Saturday.

"Regardless of the goal, it was a good game and a decent workout," he told Inter Channel. "I hadn't played since 2 July but besides my personal satisfaction I think we performed well as a team.

"The gaffer wanted us to take on his playing philosophy straight away. He wants us to stay compact as a unit and understand the various stages of a match - when to press high and when to drop off.

"Personally I think I'm training well but I need to improve lots more so that I can have an even more decisive role for the team."
