DE BOER: "GOOD INTENSITY AND PRESSING"

The coach reflects on the Celtic game: "If we're well organised, we'll improve the quality of our play"

LIMERICK – Frank de Boer highlighted Inter's intensity and pressing as the most pleasing aspects of their display against Celtic.

The Nerazzurri beat the Scottish outfit by two goals to nil in an International Champions Cup match in Limerick on Saturday night.

"What I liked about our performance today was our intensity and readiness to close down the opposition," the manager explained in his post-match media conference. "If we're well organised, we'll improve the quality of our play.

“Our aim is to get back in the Champions League and we'll battle with the other team to get there.”

The new boss was then quizzed about the possibility of Inter signing Joao Mario.

"Joao Mario is a European champion and lots of big European clubs are tracking him. That shows that he's quality.”

De Boer also commented on Ever Banega's position, Gary Medel's ability and Mauro Icardi's work rate.

“I do think Banega could operate as a deep-lying playmaker.

“Medel is very useful and you need a player like him, someone who can win lots of balls for you.

“I liked the way Mauro toiled for the team tonight. I'm very happy with his desire and the way he fought for every ball.”
