ROME - Brazil captain Joao Miranda has spoken of his pride at having had the chance to fill in as Inter skipper against Roma tonight.
"It's an honour to wear this armband because it's been worn by so many great captains before me," the centre-back declared after the 1-1 draw at the Olimpico.
The Nerazzurri leave with a point in the bag and some regret having led for most of the second half only to concede an 84th-minute equaliser.
"It was a tough game and we played well," the Brazilian continued. "Sadly we conceded a late goal but that's football. Now we need to knuckle down even harder and make sure we win the next one at home."
Roma started the game with three fast, mobile forwards and ended with Edin Dzeko on the pitch. Asked to comment on the Giallorossi's attacking potential, Miranda replied: "Roma are a fantastic team with loads of top-quality strikers. They're all difficult to mark but defensively we did well today. It's just a shame we let one in at the end."
Tonight's draw could nonetheless help Inter push on and end the season on a high: "It's a good point because it means the gap remains the same and the season is still long."
