MILAN - Inter coach Roberto Mancini has given an all-encompassing interview to World Football, a radio programme on the BBC World Service, in which he spoke about the Nerazzurri's good start to the season, the club's objectives and the importance of Sunday's match against Juventus at San Siro.
Mancini was first asked about this season's Serie A championship, which saw Inter win their first five matches while other big sides stuttered: "Serie A is a very tough championship. This season we have to wait three or four months to see each team's worth, but after ten or so matches the best teams will emerge. After four years winning the championship and losing three important players, it's normal to have some difficulties, but in my opinion Juventus will be fighting for the title in the end."
Juventus come to town on Sunday, with the San Siro sold out for the occasion. Mancini was under no illusions as to the importance of the match: "It's the Derby d'Italia and I hope it's a good match. We're second and they're in mid-table, so it's an important match for them too. It's five years since Inter have beaten Juventus at San Siro and I hope our moment has arrived. If we're able to beat Juventus it will be a very good season for us."
Mancini was also asked what changes he has noticed since his last stint in charge: "Some things have changed from my first time here. It's a different club now, but Inter is one of the best clubs in the world and our target should always be the same: to stay at the top of the game, try to win the championship and be in the Champions League every year."
Finally, the Nerazzurri boss reflected on the club's objectives for the season: "A club like Inter needs to be aiming for the top always. We've started the season well and we want to stay up there. Our objective is to stay in the top three but we don't know what is going to happen this season. We have to do our best."
