SHANGHAI – Inter's veterans were treated to a charity dinner on the eve of the Winning League International Legends Championship final.

Inter Forever donated the gloves Francesco Toldo wore during the competition, Javier Zanetti's armband and a match shirt signed by every player for the auction that was held during the event. Luis Figo also put the Portugal shirt he donned at the World Cup in 2006 under the hammer.

In the afternoon, Zanetti and Figo were invited on a sports programme to speak about the present and future of football in China. Inter's vice president enthused about the Nerazzurri fanbase in this part of the world: "Every time we come to China, we meet so many fans who follow and support us. It's great to have such a large following in such a huge and powerful country."

The Argentine great also commented on his continued role at the club: "I'm still at Inter, it's a journey that has carried on after many years as a player. We are working to build a squad that is competitive and can achieve the targets we have set."

Portuguese legend Figo, who is a central figure behind the growth of numerous soccer schools in China and around the world, then spoke about the development of Chinese football. "There are so many schools with so many youngsters that are playing the game. There are also loads of Portuguese and European coaches and football experts who are helping this sport to flourish. We are on the right lines."

Kick-off for the tournament's final has been set for 13:45 CEST tomorrow and Inter Forever will face Real Madrid Leyendas, who overcame China Football Legends 3-0 in the semi-finals.
