AC MILAN 1-1 INTER

The derby ends all square. A goal in each half and the woodwork is struck twice. Menez opens the scoring in the first period, Obi levels in the second

MILAN - The unique atmosphere of the San Siro. The choreography. The fans. And then the main event. It was a thrilling derby with both sides finding the net and going close on other occasions. Obi levelled for Inter in the second half after Menez's first half goal had given AC Milan the lead going into the break.

The match began with a huge chance for Icardi. Maurito burst clear and found himself one-on-one with Diego Lopez but his effort was pushed clear by the goalkeeper. Inter made vibrant start and had another opportunity on 12 minutes. Guarin struck the ball fiercely from the edge of the box but once again Diego Lopez was equal to the task.

AC Milan tried to respond on 18 minutes from a set-piece but the ball sailed over. The Rossoneri though took the lead just five minutes later. Muntari began the move before shifting the ball to El Shaarawy. His cross picked out Menez who sidefooted a volley past Handanovic. The game grew in intensity with Mexes picking up a yellow card for fouling Guarin as he sprinted away.

The Rossoneri again came out firing after the interval, with Bonaventura close to doubling their lead on 51 minutes. That brought a reaction from the Nerazzurri with AC Milan sitting deep. Inter then created two chances in the space of a minute. Nagatomo saw his effort deflected out for a corner off Mexes. From the resulting set-piece Kuzmanovic's cross was deflected into the path of Kovacic but he mishit his shot. Icardi then met the rebound but blazed over.

Moments later Inter were on level terms. Zapata only half-cleared and Obi latched onto the second ball. He then struck a low drive into the far corner past Diego Lopez. He celebrated with some acrobatics before being mobbed by his team-mates.

The hosts bounced back with El Shaarawy all alone in front of Handanovic however with the keeper beaten his shot caught the top of the bar. Icardi was also denied by the frame of the goal 11 minutes from time: Nagatomo fed Guarin and his cross fell kindly for Icardi. The Argentine's curling effort just shaved the angle of post and bar on its way out for a goal kick. AC Milan had the last chance but Poli's effort was deflected out for a corner.
