MILAN - After having dinner with president Erick Thohir this evening, honorary president Massimo Moratti gave a few statements to Sky Sport Italia. "It was a nice opportunity to have a calm chat together, away from the pressures of a match situation. It was very useful to listen to Erick's ideas and try to work out what's best for Inter.
"Did I give him any advice on how to come through this difficult spell? To me he seems like the sort of person who catches on quickly and doesn't need a lot of advice. I think it's important that he try to make the ownership's presence felt through his organisational set-up, even when he's far away."
What can Thohir do to restore some calm to the atmosphere surrounding the club? "Keep believing. A professional attitude and hard work always pay off. There's always a way out of a rut, however hard it is.
"Transfers? I've read lots of false stories. It depends on him, it certainly doesn't depend on my advice."
Moratti was also asked about the fans' protests: "Nothing out of the ordinary happened to disturb the players other than that the crowd followed another story that wasn't the game at hand. I hope the people being contested are able to prove they're worth more than what the fans think."
On the proposed Guarin-Vucinic swap: "What have I got to say to the fans? Inter supporters take these things to heart because Juventus are the other party involved. You can't criticise their reaction even if it might have been the right thing to do financially." Could the deal be resurrected? "I don't think there will be any more negotiations," the honorary president concluded.
