INTER CAMPUS CAMEROON, A SURPRISE IN THE MOST REMOTE AREAS

Big celebrations in Eseka and the shanty town of Mvog Ada in Yaoundé

YAOUNDÉ - There was a big party in Eseka, a new location as part of Inter Campus Cameroon, midway between the port of Douala and the capital Yaoundé. This is an area which is overlooked by the government for political reasons and by the economy because it lacks resources, but not by Inter Campus, who gathered 24 coaches from all over the country for a course involving 60 local children and their families.

Their parents in fact were incredulous as they came to the stadium: "Les blancs à Eseka?" (White people in Eseka?). Their surprise quickly turned to enthusiasm though and, in the end, the mayor asked us to come back for another special day in this small town. Thanks to Inter Campus, Eseka is now under the spotlight and the community have found means to grow and live in hope through our work there.

On the last few days of the trip, our coaches Alberto, Lorenzo and Massimo visited the shanty town of Mvog Ada in the capital Yaoundé, home to the very poor and immigrants from neighbouring Chad. The local kids happily took part in the tournaments organised for them at the health centre in Nkondongo. We'd like to say a big thankyou to Francis Kammogne, the secretary of CSC, the Cameroonian branch of CSI, for their tireless efforts which now cover the entire country with the Inter Campus centres.
