LUANDA - The Inter Campus staff were greeted with rain on their most recent trip to Luanda, with water cascading through the streets of the shanty town and disrupting the community's day-to-day life. When this happens school absences increase by 50% and there are huge delays in getting to work.
Our coaches Juri and Lorenzo were accompanied by the man responsible for organising the project, Massimo Seregni. The trio were able to make light of the difficult weather conditions to run a training course with local educators and games with the boys and girls from the youth club in Mota. This was all made possible by the help of Father Stefano Tollu who gives everything for this poverty-stricken community.
After training sessions, matches, games and drills, the kids and local coaches organised a party with prizes handed out: shoes, T-shirts and soap, the gifts are always very tangible over here. There was also a dance competition to Kuduro music, currently very popular in Angola, with our coaches getting stuck in too.
Our kids were very happy and enthusiastic and will look forward to another party in the spring.
