CERRONE: "PLEASED WITH THE PERFORMANCE"

The Primavera coach spoke to Inter Channel after his side's 2-1 win over Verona: "We prepared for it well and were excellent defensively"

MILAN - Salvatore Cerrone gave a brief interview to Inter Channel following his team's 2-1 triumph over Hellas Verona in the Primavera championship this afternoon.

This is what the coach had to say:

"It was a tough match against a side that had drawn with AC Milan and caused problems for lots of teams, winning four of their games. It was quite a strange match too given the recent results and it was crucial for us to get the three points to keep us up near the top. I wanted to see my lads go out there and produce a mature display and I must say that by and large that's what they did.

"We fell behind but did well to get ourselves straight back in it. I told the boys during the break that if we were careful then we were perfectly capable of playing our game. I'm pleased with the way they played, stuck together and soaked up the pressure.

"Our opponents were good at knocking the ball around in midfield. We knew they could do that well and we'd prepared for it: we did a good job of keeping things tight in the middle and our defenders were on their toes.

"In the second half we played very well on the break and had several other good chances besides the goal. I don't think we afforded them much and I think we're on the right path. I can see the improvement there.

"I'm confident about the tough away trip to Lanciano we've got now. We're already thinking about that game."
