MILAN - "It was a pleasure to welcome the new Inter president Erick Thohir and his partners to Palazzo Marino, the home of the Milanese. They were with a friend of mine and the city's, Massimo Moratti. It was a more than pleasant meeting, I'd say friendly, in which we exchanged our views on sport in Milan, amongst other things, as well as on the future and the city's development. This was the first step in a dialogue which will continue soon, what I can say is that we've started down the same path which will see us work together for the good of Milan and for those who have chosen our city as the location for a significant investment."
This is what Mayor of Milan, Giuliano Pisapia had to say following his meeting with new Inter president Erick Thohir, along with the Deputy Mayor Ada Lucia De Cesaris and the local minister for sport, Chiara Bisconti.
"Inter is one of the symbols of Milan, a city which owes some of its international recognition to the sporting achievements of the city's two teams. I'm sure that the new Inter ownership will confirm the team's place at the top of the European and world game, as was the case in the Moratti era. Inter already has "international" in its name and Erick Thohir will no doubt help the team and the city become more famous around the world, and as Mayor, this is something I can only be happy about."
