MEXICO CITY - The Inter Campus team received a great welcome from the kids as they arrived in Silao, with the youngsters enthusiastic to see them again and raring to go in their first training session, despite driving rain. The following days saw them play and train with the help of four local coaches, on-site project coordinator Ernesto Ortega, and coaches Silvio Guareshi and Juri Monzani.
The project in Silao, backed by Pirelli Mexico, is aimed at children from the Casa Hogar Peter Pan centre. At the end of the visit the kids received Nerazzurri shirts and played a tournament on the local sports pitch, displaying great sportsmanship and fair play. After their trip to Silao, the Inter Campus group headed 350 kilometres south to Ceylan, in the Federal District, where all the different Inter Campus centres from Mexico City came together for a celebration. The children from the Fundacion Renacimiento in Tepito, one of the poorest areas of the capital, and the local indigenous Triquis population (followed by the Marcelline Sisters) played together along with other kids involved in the project. They were put together based on age group rather than where they were from to allow them to integrate and get to know one another.
