MILAN - Summer Camp Japan began on Monday 29 July. Aimed at kids aged 8-14, the camp will run in Tokyo and Nagano until 8 August. Inter Academy head Marco Monti will be in attendance, along with youth team coaches Andrea Ratti, Valerio Candido and Massimo Ciocci.
The youngsters will enjoy double training sessions in Tokyo until Thursday, ahead of a tournament on Friday morning. Later on Friday afternoon they will all move to Nagano for the second week of the summer camp.
This camp will help to launch a very ambitious project, devised through a three-year deal with "Black and Blue Stripes" (a club founded by the Tanaka family), which is to create Inter's first-ever full-time football school in the world: Inter Academy Japan.
Inter's involvement doesn't end with a sponsorship deal however: the partnership will be based on organisational and tactical/technical support. The coaching programmes the young Japanese players will attend will be the same as those used at the youth academy at the Centro Sportivo Giacinto Facchetti, while Massimo Ciocci will remain in Japan for the full three years as resident coach and supervisor. Shoji Jo, a professional footballer from 1994 to 2006 who won 35 caps and scored 7 goals for his country, will act as director of football.
This exciting project aims to develop young talent through methodology and experience just like a youth academy. The Nerazzurri academy is one of the world leaders from every perspective, as the results achieved on the field over the last decade clearly show. In addition, this partnership will also allow the club to export the Inter brand to a rapidly growing football market.
