ROVERETO – Walter Mazzarri gave his thoughts to Inter Channel after his team's friendly against FeralpiSalò.
"We've just had two games in as many days and what's more we played at a different altitude today, so we had to deal with some serious heat for the first time. We found it quite hard but the lads have dealt with the workload well. Everything's going according to schedule. We're happy."
Afterwards the coach spoke to another group of journalists: "Is my assessment today different to yesterday? We found it a bit harder, we were a little slower, but we've rounded off our pre-season training camp in the best way possible and that's the main thing."
"Are all the players at the same level? Those of us who do this job know that every player copes with pre-season training differently. Does Icardi need to do more work? He's one of those who found it hardest but he's put in a lot of effort and worked hard. He's a little bit further behind.
"Was it nice to hear Moratti's words? Of course. You're bound to be happy when your hear the president saying things like that. The signs that we're getting at the moment are relative, the most important thing is that everyone is putting maximum effort into it."
"We're still a wide player short? Let's not keep going on about it, the club will speak about that.
Finally, Mazzarri fielded a few questions about individual players: "Kovacic? We didn't expect to lose him but we're looking forward to having him back. Belfodil? It was impossible to judge him on time he got at the end of the game but he's making progress."
