INTER 2-0 FERALPISALÒ, CAMPAGNARO AND PALACIO

Another friendly win for Walter Mazzarri's side as they continue to slowly crank up into gear

ROVERETO - Inter beat FeralpiSalò 2-0 in a friendly match played at Rovereto's Stadio La Quercia this afternoon. It was the Nerazzurri's third and final fixture of this year's pre-season training camp in Trentino, and came just 24 hours on from the game against Vicenza.

Walter Mazzarri's troops took to the field in a 3-5-2 formation and despite the wholesale changes made to the starting line-up over the course of the game they showed further improvement in their movement as they adapt to the new coach's playing system.

FIRST HALF – Palacio wasted little time in reminding everyone of his threat, the Argentine striker bursting down the left flank in the third minute and whipping in a cross that caused problems for FeralpiSalò's backline.

A minute later Inter were denied an early opener by the woodwork. Jonathan and Guarin linked up well on the right and the Colombian's centre found Alvarez, who controlled the ball well before unleashing a left-footed effort that Branduani just managed to keep out with the help of the crossbar.

Another decent chance came Inter's way in the 10th minute when Icardi sent in a good delivery from the right that had the FeralpiSalò defenders scrambling to clear their lines before eventually conceding a corner.

Mazzarri's side continued to show initiative in wide areas and Alvarez won a corner on the left after a quarter of an hour; Campagnaro met it when the cross came in but could only head wide.

FeralpiSalò carved out their first opening of the game midway through the half, Carrizo showing smart reflexes to put Tantardini's long-range shot out for a corner.

A few minutes later the ball was back down the other end: Nagatomo sent in a teasing ball from the left and Icardi just failed to latch onto it.

After Tantardini had tried his luck again in the 33rd minute without finding the target, Inter finally took the lead when Campagnaro's towering header from a corner left Branduani with no chance.

Palacio might have made it two shortly afterwards with a header of his own, but FeralpiSalò's No.1 had other ideas and punched away El Trenza's flicked attempt. That was followed by a third Nerazzurri header with half-time approaching: Icardi's effort sailed over the bar. There was still time for the young striker to have another stab at goal before the break, but his shot on the turn well saved by Branduani.

SECOND HALF - Icardi began the second period as he ended the first, seeking his first goal in black and blue. On 49 minutes Alvarez played an inviting ball in towards his team-mate but the youngster's first-time effort sailed high over the bar.

Inter did manage to double their lead through an Argentine soon afterwards and Palacio was the man who did it, coordinating himself superbly to fire a well-placed finish across the keeper and into the far corner.

El Trenza went looking for another on the hour mark, showing some clever movement to free the space for a shot from outsider the box, yet his curler was off target.

The game petered out as a spectacle as the heat began to take its toll despite the flurry of substitutions made by both coaches, and that's how it finished: Inter 2 FeralpiSalò 0.
