MORATTI: "I TRY TO DO WHAT'S BEST FOR INTER"

"We'll do whatever is needed to make sure the team is ready to face the new season"

MILAN – As he left the Saras offices this evening, Inter president Massimo Moratti made a few statements regarding the negotiations with Parma over Belfodil. "I don't think an agreement has been reached, we're in talks," Moratti said. “We'll see. If we sign a player it's because we think he's good. We're working on it. Is Belfodil the new Benzema? Let's hope so."

Massimo Moratti was speaking after holding a summit meeting with sporting director Piero Ausilio and youth academy directors Roberto Samaden and Pierluigi Casiraghi. "I don't know if we're good enough to win the league but we'll certainly strengthen the team. Belfodil and Icardi are both great players already. We'll see whether Cassano leaves. For Silvestre it would be a way for him to get regular games, but the deal is yet to be finalised." The Italian striker and the Argentine defender are reported to be heading to Parma on loan.

Moratti continued: "I'm in charge of Inter and I try to do what's best for the club, it's about being responsible. Belfodil is not a bad name, in fact he's a big name. Football is all about opportunities and it's up to the president to work out if they can be taken advantage of. In any case we'll try to do whatever is needed to make sure the team is ready to face the new season."

Asked about negotiations with potential Indonesian investors, Moratti simply stated that there's "nothing new".
