APPIANO GENTILE - After a year in charge of the Inter first team, now it's time for Juventus - a side he beat in the reverse fixture - the team that essentially triggered Andrea Stramaccioni's appointment by beating Inter, then managed by Claudio Ranieri: "Let's hope the result is different this time," smiled Stramaccioni.
Following Antonio Conte's comments this morning, the Nerazzurri coach was asked if he would ever take charge of Juventus: "He's been in this game for a lot longer than me, he knows better than I do the way things work. Juventus are a big club, but I find it difficult to imagine myself there, because my career's only just getting started. Perhaps in 4-5 years if I leave and another job comes up, not necessarily that one..."
Stramaccioni then spoke about the controversy relating to Juventus CEO Giuseppe Marotta's comments before the team's first meeting, when he spoke about him being 'tactically carefree': "There was a misunderstanding, he later explained to me that he didn't mean it quite like that, it's over and we've cleared it up. At times my personality helps me, on other occasions I need to keep an eye on it..."
The Nerazzurri coach was then asked about his players returning from international duty in South America, Fredy Guarin in particular: "We've got a bit of dark cloud over our heads... When I heard that Isla had left immediately, while Gargano and Pereira hadn't, I said to myself 'we really are unlucky'. Other players were also affected, including Cavani. In terms of Guarin, clearly it's not ideal, but these things happen. A fine? That's down to the club. From what I've heard from Fredy and Ivan Cordoba, what's happened has happened, he missed his flight just like I could if I went somewhere. If the club thinks he's shown neglect, then they'll take an appropriate course of action, but that's not the case, to my mind. I'll make decisions whether to pick him purely based on how he is."
