MILAN - Inter's season began early: on 2 August Andrea Stramaccioni's side flew to Split and - despite the fierce atmosphere created by 35,000 locals - began their UEFA Europa League campaign with a win, thanks to goals from Sneijder, Nagatomo and Coutinho. It wasn't the same story seven days later however, as Inter had a night to forget at the San Siro, going down 2-0 to goals from Vukusic and Vukovic.
On 23 August there was a first meeting with FC Vaslui, in the play-offs. Inter continued their great form on the road, winning 2-0 in Piatra Neamt's Stadionul Ceahlaul with goals from Cambiasso and Palacio. The return leg in Milan on 30 August finished 2-2, which was enough to send the Nerazzurri through to the group stage.
