MORATTI: "I DON'T THINK WE'LL GO BACK ONTO THE TRANSFER MARKET. WE ALREADY HAVE ALTERNATIVES."

MILAN - Here's the text of an interview given by Inter president Massimo Moratti this morning in his office in the centre of Milan (2).

You have Batistuta, but do you intend to buy more players before the transfer window deadline?
No, I don't think so. You don't necessarily have to go onto the transfer market each time a player gets hurt. Also, I think Cuper feels well covered with the players he has at the moment. He has quite a few that he's not able use to their full potential. Yesterday, it was regretful he couldn't use great players to their full potential due to physical reasons. Or like Dalmat, who has some very small problems but he's overcoming them. We have alternatives both in the midfield and in other positions.

Milan had a penalty given against them for the first time this season and they lost...
It doesn't mean anything. That penalty was a very normal episode of the match. A defeat can always happen, just like it happened to us in Perugia. It can happen to play a match in which not everything goes well. It's one of the normal things in football. It happened to Milan and it could have happened to us.

But perhaps you weren't expecting to move top of the table so soon?
Perhaps not even Milan were expecting to take a three-point lead last week. This is the great thing about football. There are constant surprises which the Italian championship, difficult as it is, can offer.
