INTER WOMEN, ROMA XIV 1-6 INTER

Goals from Marinelli, Costi, Regazzoli, Baresi (x2) and Carravetta secure a twelfth successive win as Inter impress once again

ROME - Sebastian De La Fuente’s Inter side were back to what they do best on Sunday… Winning! Roma XIV vs. Inter finished 6-1 to the Nerazzurri, with the visitors initially going a goal down after Nicosia broke the deadlock early on. However, this only motivated #InterWomen further, who soon fired themselves to victory thanks to goals from Marinelli, Costi, Regazzoli, Baresi (x2) and Carravetta. This was yet another fantastic performance from the Nerazzurri, who achieved what is now their their 12th win in as many matches – duly moving up to 36 points in the league standings.

There was an initial shock for the away side as Nicosia fired her team in front after just 120 seconds. However, Inter reacted as all great teams do and nearly grabbed an immediate equaliser through Locatelli. As the clock hit the 20-minute mark, Regazzoli played in Marinelli to level the scoreline with her right foot. Just before the interval, Costi and Regazzoli both had chances to score but the half-time whistle was blown with the scoreline locked at 1-1.

As opposed to the first half, Inter managed the second half in the best possible way and completed their comeback after 53 minutes through Costi’s strike. Six minutes later, Regazzoli hit the post with a wonderful effort. Nevertheless, Inter’s number ten wasn’t going to be denied: a minute later, she made no mistake and made it 3-1 following Pisano’s cross. In the 80th minute, the Nerazzurre got their fourth of the match: Pandini’s cross from deep was magnificently volleyed home by Baresi. Five minutes later, the captain got another one as she converted Merlo’s cross with great precision. With the clock running down, Elisa Carravetta also got on the scoresheet as Inter picked up a resounding victory.
