MILANO MARITTIMA - The Allieve 2002 side led by Stefano Torriani have been named Champions of Italy in the Under-17 age category.
The girls won 17 out of 18 matches in the regular season while playing an age group up, scoring 121 goals before beating Marcon and Sassuolo in the final group. In the first match, the Under-16s beat Marcon 2-1 with goals from De Zen and Zulli. In the second and decisive match, Zulli’s goal was enough to beat Sassuolo 1-0.
The tournament in Milano Marittima featured sides who won competitions in three regions: Emilia Romagna (Sassuolo), Veneto (Marcon) and Milan (Inter). It also aimed to serve as a trial run for a women’s national Under-17 competition starting in the 2018-19 season.
Victory in the Under-17 Championship completes a magnificent season after the Under-12s also won the Danone Nations Cup and the Under-15 side claimed the national championship. It’s a fantastic result that highlights the good work being done at the Elite Academy and the focus being placed into women’s football by the club.
