SESTO SAN GIOVANNI - Stefano Vecchi’s side beat Genoa today in the rearranged fixture from matchday 22 of the Primavera 1 TIM season. It finished 2-0 at the Stadio Breda thanks to goals from Matteo Rover on 14 minutes and Davide Merola after 67 minutes. It was an important win for the Under-19s who stay top along with Atalanta on 50 points.
After the match, Vecchi spoke to Inter Tv. "I have a high quality squad and the basic idea is that those who are in the best shape will play. Nevertheless, you always have to do well to evaluate the condition of the individual players.
"We showed the right spirit today and that’s needed to get good results and to put in good performances. Genoa have always been a tough team to play against and we did well today even if there are some things that can be improved."
There were complimentary comments for the players who scored the decisive goals. "Merola and Rover deserved their goals. They’re two good lads and they’re both doing very well." To finish, there was a quick thought about the immediate future. "The guys have earned some days to rest so that they can come back focused on our objectives for the season."
