SPALLETTI: "WE DESERVED TO WIN"

The Nerazzurri Coach after the 1-1 at the Stadio Meazza against Roma: "We need to follow our path, step by step and without fear"

MILAN - The big match between Inter and Roma ended as a draw at the Meazza on Sunday evening, with Luciano Spalletti’s Nerazzurri having had many chances, yet they only snatched a late draw thanks to a goal from Vecino.

The opening question answered by the Inter coach was regarding the Giallorossi’s opener, which came from a defensive error: “Santon should not have to apologise to anyone because mistakes happen in football,” said Spalletti. “Davide is a fit lad, a professional who trains in the right manner. Nobody should have to apologise. We must have the courage to carry on along our path and battle with other teams at this level. We know that we have some strong sides ahead of us, both physically and technically. However, we must focus on our own path, taking it step by step and without any fear.”

"We need to show who we are and show our professionalism. We had a lot of chances, Handanovic didn’t make the saves that Alisson made but we were too imprecise in the build-up play. We deserved to win, but we were limited in our reaction and struggled to free ourselves of some of the concerns that remain in the team and I don’t understand it. We need to take responsibility for our place in the table, without being disheartened or afraid of not getting back. We showed that we have values and this second half is a way of getting ourselves back on the right road."
