PRIMAVERA 1 TIM: INTER 1-0 NAPOLI

A 74th minute goal from Zaniolo helped decide the week 13 league match on Saturday

SESTO SAN GIOVANNI -  Nicolò Zaniolo’s goal was enough for the Inter Under-19s to take three points on matchday 13 of the Primavera 1 TIM season at the Stadio Breda in Sesto San Giovanni. It was an important win for Stefano Vecchi’s side after the first half finished goalless before the striker from Massa scored the goal to beat Napoli.

In the first quarter of the match, Inter were camped securely in the opposition half but were unable to find the right spark in the final third. The first chance for the Nerazzurri came after 30 minutes. Colido saw Corrado’s movement to the near post but he wasn’t able to redirect the ball on target. Two minutes later, some great individual play from Colidio saw him penetrate the area and shoot across goal with his left foot and it went just wide of Schaeper’s post. At the end of the half, Napoli relieved the pressure on themselves and were dangerous through Mezzoni but Pissardo did very well to get down at his feet during a one-on-one situation.

The second half began with a chance for Emmers, although he failed to make clear contact with a cross from Corrado. Vecchi’s side continued pushing for the opener and threatened the Napoli defence on a number of occasions. In what was a closely-fought affair, however, the Nerazzurri defence could not relax and Pissardo was soon forced into action by the away side’s attack.

With the match locked at 0-0, Nicolò Zaniolo was brought on to replace Adorante, as the Nerazzurri sought to secure all three points. This change soon paid dividends as the player helped Inter take the lead with a beautiful header in the 74th minute. Having also scored in the week for Italy’s Under-19 National Team, this was now his third successive goal in the league. As the game petered out, the home side held most of the possession and eventually secured a narrow 1-0 win.
