ARENZANO – It was a negative day for the Nerazzurri’s Under-19s at the Stadio Gambino in Arenzano as Genoa came from behind to win on matchday seven of Primavera 1 TIM. After Merola’s opener, Carlo Sabatini’s side came back into the game as a result of three Zanimacchia free kicks as own goals from Nolan, Pissardo and the taker himself made it 3-1, Mutton restored hope at the end before Karic killed the match on the counterattack.
Stefano Vecchi’s side seemed to be doing well at the start and it didn’t take long to open the scoring. A great piece of play from Rover, Zaniolo and Sala freed up Merola at the far post who couldn’t miss. Genoa responded straight away as a free kick led to a Nolan own goal in the 17th minute. It was another free kick which led to second goal as the ball bounced off the bar before going in off Pissardo.
Inter looked to get back in the game as the substitute Mutton went close from an Emmers corner in the second half. In the 56th minute, another Zanimacchia free kick made the difference as he shot under the wall and found the corner.
A late Mutton tap-in spurred hope of a comeback only for Karic to restore the wo-goal advantage on the break. It was the second defeat in the league for the Under-19s who return to the Breda Stadium in Sesto San Giovanni to play Esbjerg in UEFA Youth League.
