COCHABAMBA - Greater care and more attention is being paid to children thanks to Inter Campus Bolivia. Last week in Cochabamba, 300 children from the project and the Inter Campus staff who arrived from Milan to monitor activities and the technical and educational development of local coaches met. Also present were 80 children of prisoners at the San Sebastiá Prison who represent the most vulnerable group and they received free health insurance policies thanks to Inter Campus’ local partner Fundación Casari and insurance broker La Boliviana Ciacruz.
The Inter Campus Bolivia project has been dedicated to providing fun and helping hundreds of boys and girls develop since 2008 from the disadvantaged quarter of Ticti Norte and children who were forced to live with their parents in prison until only last year. The laws have changed so that children under six stay with their parent in prison while those over the age of seven are sent to children’s homes but they often remain with their parents so Inter Campus ends up being their only chance for leisure as they can leave prison and play freely. The passion for the Nerazzurri colours creates incredible stories such as that of the members of the local Inter Club who are all Bolivians who came from afar (La Paz and Santa Cruz) in order to meet the Inter Campus staff, see the project up close and give balls to the children. Inter Club Bolivia was only formed three months ago but the attachment to Inter and Inter Campus is already extremely strong. With the handing over of the member kit and signed pennants, they promised to return in greater numbers to Cochabamba before Christmas to see the children again and to keep showing their support for the project.
