SINGAPORE – Danilo D’Ambrosio believes Inter’s 2-0 victory over Bayern Munich in the International Champions Cup Singapore on Thursday will help the team get into a winning habit as they prepare for the impending 2017/18 season.
"We’re coming along and although pre-season matches don’t count for much, winning leads to more wins, allows you to train with a smile and boosts your confidence," said the Nerazzurri No.33 after the final whistle.
D’Ambrosio also revealed he is enjoying his start to life under new Inter boss Luciano Spalletti.
"I knew about Spalletti’s charisma and approach to preparing matches," he said. "He can help us achieve our objectives and we need to try to get across his ideas as quickly as possible. The three-man defence could be an option, but desire, hunger and determination are more important than formations."
With football about to enter a World Cup year, the Italian full-back stressed that he is focused on Inter rather than looking ahead to Russia 2018.
"There’s still a long way to go until the World Cup," he said. "I’m just concentrating on getting better every day. Inter comes first, then who knows. It won’t be an easy start to the season but you have to go out there and make games easy by playing well."
