RISCONE DI BRUNICO – Ahead of his unveiling to the media, Inter’s latest recruit Borja Valero answered questions from fans sent in via social media on Wednesday.
The Spanish midfielder revealed that he is already loving life at Inter despite only being a Nerazzurri player for a few hours.
"It’s only the very beginning but I feel very good," he said. "I’ve been made to feel very welcome by the coaching staff and my team-mates, especially [Stevan] Jovetic who I know from our time at Fiorentina. I can’t wait to play at San Siro as a home player. I think [Luciano] Spalletti is desperate to do well and we need to work hard to follow his lead."
Valero insisted that he was happy to help the team in any way the coach wants.
"I’m here to help, regardless of the position I’m played in," he said. "I have experience in both Serie A and other leagues and I know I can make a contribution both on and off the pitch. I think that’s really important. Midfield is a vital part of the team’s play, so I’ll be striving to do my best."
The new Nerazzurri star also revealed why he has picked the No.20 shirt at Inter.
"I’ve been No.20 since I was at Villarreal," he explained. "I like the number and it was free here, so I decided to stick with it."
