UDINE – Eder and Antonio Candreva were both involved as Italy beat Liechtenstein 5-0 to stay neck and neck with Spain on 16 points at the top of Group G. With six matches played, the result means that September’s showdown in Madrid will go a long way to deciding who takes top spot in the race for World Cup qualification.
Antonio Candreva was named in Giampiero Ventura’s starting line-up, playing 60 minutes before making way for Federico Bernardeschi. Eder came off the bench in the 67th minute, replacing Ciro Immobile, and scored to make it 3-0 just seven minutes later.
Danilo D’Ambrosio and Roberto Gagliardini were unused substitutes.
