PALACIO: "THANK YOU FOR FIVE GREAT YEARS"

"I’m proud to have played for one of the biggest clubs in the world. My fondest memory is the backheel in the derby," said the Argentine striker

MILAN Rodrigo Palacio thanked the Nerazzurri faithful for their support on Sunday night as he bid farewell to the club after five years in Milan.

"I feel very emotional. I want to thank the fans and everyone who works at Inter," said the Argentine. "It’s been an incredible five years. I’m proud to have played for one of the biggest clubs in the world and to end with a win was a fitting finale. I’m sure the club will do better next season. I’d like to stay in Italy for another year, but I’ll have to see where.

"I take a great deal from this experience. I’ve had five amazing years from a personal perspective too. My family have loved it here in Milan and the city will always be in my heart."

Palacio went on to reveal his personal highlight from his time at Inter.

"The backheel goal in the derby was amazing. That’s my fondest memory," he said. "I felt a bit sad during the week thinking about saying goodbye, but I’m happy to have been shown so much love. Vecchi has helped the team out at a tough time and I want to thank him also."

Stefano Vecchi then gatecrashed Palacio’s interview to pay tribute to the Argentine in person.

"He’s an example for everyone, especially the Primavera lads that have worked with us," said the Inter coach.
