ROME - Inter travelled to the capital on the penultimate weekend of the season to meet Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico. Eder replaced the injured Icardi up front, with Candreva, Brozovic and Perisic operating just behind him.
Much of Inter's play came down the left flank in the early stages via Nagatomo and Perisic but the best they could muster was a pair of corner kicks. Lazio, however, took the lead after Felipe Anderson won a penalty. Keita calmly converted from 12 yards despite Handanovic going the right way. Murillo picked up an injury in the challenge which led to the spot-kick and was replaced by Santon.
The Nerazzurri responded with a foray forward from Candreva but his pass to Eder was just cut out at the vital moment. Inter were soon level though. On the half-hour mark, Perisic helped on a corner from the left and Andreolli powered a header past Vargic to make it 1-1. Five minutes later and Inter took the lead. Candreva teased in a low cross and Hoedt, lunging towards his own goal, wrongfooted Vargic to put through his own net.
Lazio responded but Immobile was beaten to the ball by the alert Handanovic before Keita was caught offside when through on goal. Inter, meanwhile, failed to make the most of Candreva's dangerous crosses before the break.
The Nerazzurri made a fast start after the interval. Eder won the ball back, beat four players and was fouled on the edge of the box. The Italy man took the set-piece himself and sent a shot narrowly wide. Eder then miscued after a nice cut-back from Candreva on 49 minutes. Ten minutes into the second period, Keita fed Immobile whose shot clattered off the crossbar. The hosts continued to pour forward and earned a dangerous free-kick after Nagatomo bumped into Milinkovic-Savic on the edge of the area. Biglia's effort came back off the wall and the ball broke to Keita who went down too easily in the eyes of the referee. A second yellow followed the one he had earned moments earlier for a foul on Candreva and Lazio were down to ten men.
That gave the Nerazzurri greater space and the third goal duly arrived with 17 minutes to play. Candreva and Brozovic linked up well and Perisic's shot was cleared off the line by Lombardi. The ball broke to Eder and he made no mistake from close range. The Biancocelesti would eventually end the match down to nine men after Lulic was booked twice in quick succession. There was also time for brief run-outs for Pinamonti and Banega as Inter returned to winning ways.
