MILAN – Piero Ausilio spoke to Mediaset Premium in the build-up to Inter’s clash with Sampdoria on Monday night.
"We’ll approach the market in a professional way, thinking logically to strengthen a squad that is already competitive and of a good standard," he said. "We have values here and we want to use them as our starting point, then add players who help our project. We don’t want to make too many changes to a team that is working well. We expect a lot from our players in these last nine games.
"Suning is a professional organisation. They’ve come in with clear ideas and in eight months they’ve already done so much. My contract? I like it at Inter, I’ve never felt excluded from the plans and it was only right that the owners took time to evaluate everyone’s work. If there’s a chance we can move forward together I’ll be very happy. In any case, I’m focused on my job because Inter deserve to be successful again."
Asked if his extension depends on Inter securing third place, Ausilio replied: "No, a proper club plans for the future regardless of individual match results. We have nine finals and we’ll give 100% in every one of them. We’ll see what happens but the other teams were further ahead than us. Regardless of what happens, nothing can take the credit away from Pioli for the job he’s done."
