PIOLI BEMOANS POOR START AT NAPOLI

"We must learn from today and do better in future. We have to get ourselves back on track quickly." Read the coach's post-match analysis

NAPLES - Inter must learn from their defeat to Napoli and improve quickly if they want to cliimb the table, stressed Stefano Pioli in the aftermath of Friday's game at the San Paolo.

The Nerazzurri were caught napping as the hosts scored twice in the opening six minutes and Pioli believes it was ultimately his side's poor start to proceedings which knocked them out of their stride.

“We've taken a step backwards after our recent performances and we got our approach wrong today," he told journalists after the match. "We tried to get ourselves back into it but couldn't take the chances that came our way. Now we need to knuckle down and work on finding better balance.

“We haven't got much time if we want to start climbing the table. We're working on all areas. We have a few problems to solve and the only way to do that is through hard work. We must improve quickly.

"The lads' attitude has been spot on: they're very alert, open and willing. We didn't really play as a team today but I think a lot of that is down to the poor start we made – that's where we lost our balance

"The players are doing everything they can to improve. I saw some positive things in our other games and better balance too. We need to be more alert, more compact and more determined when we're not in possession. There's a lot of work to do, we're working well but I think we need to work even better.

“We must learn from today and do better in future. We have no time to waste: we have to get ourselves back on track quickly."
