MILAN – It’s Throwback Thursday time again! This week, with the visit of Fiorentina to San Siro on Monday looming large, we’re dedicating it to the same fixture from the 2009/10 season, which saw Diego Milito bag a late winner to hand the Nerazzurri a big three points.
Like this Monday’s game, the 2009/10 fixture also fell in Week 14 of the league season. Jose Mourinho’s Inter side welcomed Cesare Prandelli’s Fiorentina to San Siro, dominating the game but struggling to find the breakthrough as Walter Samuel had a header chalked off.
It looked to be heading for a draw, but Diego Milito had other ideas. The Argentine striker won a penalty in the minute and – cometh the hour, cometh the man – stepped up to stick it away and secure an important three points for Inter.
