AC MILAN 2-2 INTER

The #DerbyMilano ends all square. The Rossoneri lead twice through Suso. Candreva levels once before Perisic snatches a point at the death

MILAN - Inter scored with virtually the last kick of the game to come away with a point in the 165th Milan derby. The Rossoneri led twice through Suso yet the Nerazzurri found a response - first through Candreva, then courtesy of Perisic - to emerge with a point.

Stefano Pioli went with a 4-2-3-1 for his first match in charge, picking Medel at centre back alongside Miranda, while Kondogbia returned in midfield.

Inter made a fast start, winning the ball back through Joao Mario high up the pitch but he was just unable to pick out Icardi. AC Milan responded with a positive run from Niang down the left, though Medel matched him stride for stride. On 10 minutes, Kondogbia climbed highest to meet Brozovic's corner from the right but failed to keep his header down. Four minutes later, Perisic was presented with a fine opportunity. Candreva fed Joao Mario whose cutback was left by Icardi for the Croatian. His right-footed shot was straight at Donnarumma however.

Once again Perisic threatened midway through the first period, sending a header wide from D'Ambrosio's centre. It was one-way traffic before the interval, Kondogbia once again winning a header from a corner only to direct his effort off target.

The Rossoneri came to life with 15 to play in the first half but Suso's left-footed shot was too close to Handanovic. Inter looked to break the deadlock, once more via a Perisic header, before Medel was forced off injured. Murillo deputised for the Chilean. The biggest chance of the half fell the hosts' way just before the break, however. Suso cut inside and curled the ball past Handanovic into the far corner to give AC Milan the lead.

Both teams came out firing for the second 45 minutes. First D'Ambrosio saw a fierce shot deflected behind, before Donnarumma struggled to keep out a Candreva drive moments later. That effort from the Italy international would prove ominous, as the wide man thumped a shot into the top corner past the AC Milan goalkeeper on 53 minutes to level the scores.

The Nerazzurri sensed the game was theirs for the taking, Joao Mario leaving Paletta on his backside and letting fly with his left though the Rossoneri got bodies in to block. Just when it seemed Inter were in the ascendancy, Suso collected a pass from Bacca, won a 50-50 with Miranda and found the back of the net to restore AC Milan's advantage with his second of the night.

With a quarter of the game remaining, Inter very nearly equalised through Perisic. Candreva scooped the ball over the top and the Croatian's first-time volley with his left skipped wide of the far corner. Icardi then failed to sweep home moments later. Pioli sent on Nagatomo and Jovetic late on, while Montella opted for Lapadula in place of Niang. Inter went for it at the death but Donnarumma got down smartly to collect Perisic's venomous cross with Icardi closing in. The Croatian would finally get his reward, however. Handanovic joined his team-mates in the opposition penalty area and, amid the confusion, Perisic popped up at the back post to slam home with his left from Kondogbia's flick on.
