APPIANO GENTILE – Stefano Pioli told Mediaset Premium he was fully focusing on the upcoming derby with AC Milan in an interview just after his unveiling as Inter boss on Thursday afternoon.
"Now more than ever before, we need to take it one game at a time. Our next match is the match – the derby. We want to be completely prepared for it. All of the players will be able to convince me to pick them, but those that do play will have to rise to the occasion," explained the Nerazzurri coach.
Pioli also shared his first impressions of his new club.
"It’s a wonderful feeling and a big responsibility to be the coach of Inter. This is one of the biggest clubs in the world, with fantastic fans. I’ll give my all to achieve the best possible results.
"It won’t be easy to qualify for the Champions League because there are some good teams in the league, but we have a great chance so we need to work hard and try our best because that’s our objective," said Pioli.
The new Inter boss acknowledged that his side had plenty of work to do, but stressed that the players were raring to go.
"We have lots of room for improvement. We need to do a bit of work in all areas, but the squad is motivated, willing to work hard and ready to give everything."
Finally, Pioli – who has been an Inter fan all his life – admitted that it was a special day in his career.
"I have that passion and it gives you more enthusiasm, more energy. We can learn from our fans – they are ready to fight for this club."
