ICARDI: "WE ALL NEED TO STEP UP NOW"

The captain reacts to Inter's 2-1 defeat at Southampton: "Nothing's going right for us at the moment. We must do whatever it takes to turn things around"

SOUTHAMPTON - Nerazzurri captain Mauro Icardi called on his team-mates to up their game and do "whatever it takes" to get Inter back on track after slipping to a 2-1 defeat at St. Mary's Stadium.

"There's not much to say. We're not getting much luck at the moment - nothing's going right. We must do whatever it takes to turn things around.

“We played well in the first half but I don't know why whenever we concede a goal our whole world seems to come crumbling down. We conceded the second in a strange way. We all need to step up now.

"It's going to be hard for us to qualify from the group now but as long it's still possible we have to go for it.”

Icardi also commented on the recent change of coach after Frank de Boer was replaced by Stefano Vecchi on Tuesday: “I's always the coach who pays the price in football because you can't sack 25 players, but when the coach leaves it's because the players haven't given their all and haven't done well enough. We'll get on with the job with Vecchi then we'll see what the club decides."
