SOUTHAMPTON - Piero Ausilio was interviewed by Sky Italia about the current situation at the club and in particular the coaching position before Inter's Europa League match at Southampton.
“Everyone is responsible when you change coach. We're in this together, in the good and the bad. We were forced to make a sudden change because of the results. Now we'll set out on a new path and we all need to be even more responsible. We'll turn things around together.
"De Boer is a fantastic professional and he gave his all for the cause but sadly the results didn't go his way and Inter can't afford to be losing matches.
“Vecchi is a calm, experienced coach and he's an Inter man. It's not a bad thing to have people who put their heart into it right now. He's been tasked with this job but no one's said his time will end on Sunday,
“The owners are coming tomorrow and we'll assess things over the coming days. We'll look at Vecchi too. Some people might forget this but we work as one and together we'll decide what's best for Inter. There's no such thing as a 'casting' – that's just a word the media have thrown about.
"A caretaker role? We're talking about good coaches. Being in charge of Inter is a big responsibility because this club has a great history. Regardless of your nationality, an Inter coach has to buy into the club's plans.”
Quizzed about the possibility of Diego Simeone taking over next season, Ausilio continued: “I don't work according to what people perceive from the outside. I just focus on the present. We're not looking at coaches under contract with other clubs.
"I'm sure we'll pick the right person to see out the season. I'm not going to give you any names. Stefano Vecchi is one possibility along with other coaches. We just want what's best for Inter.”
