OPPOSITION WATCH: PUEL PREVIEWS SOUTHAMPTON V INTER

Claude Puel and James Ward-Prowse look ahead to Thursday's Europa League clash at St. Mary's

SOUTHAMPTON – Saints boss Claude Puel says Southampton must focus on themselves more than worry about an Inter side he believes is tricky to size up when the two teams meet on Thursday night.

Speaking at a media conference on the eve of the Europa League Group K fixture, the French coach said: "I'm expecting it to be a similar game to the first match, although we obviously want to pick up points and qualify for the next knockout stages.

"Inter will be a changed side but we must remain focused on what we have to do ourselves.

"Regardless of what formation their new coach decides to go with, we know Inter have some very good players – they demonstrated their individual ability in Milan and won the game so we'll have to be very careful.

"They have lots of dangerous players like [Ever] Banega, [Mauro] Icardi and Eder but I can't say there's one player in particular I'd like to take off them – I prefer to concentrate on my own team."

Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse, sitting alongside his manager at the press conference, added: "The group is still very open but we can't wait to play this game.

"Inter have changed manager but it's precisely in situations like this when they could be pulling out all the stops. It's hard to predict how they'll play so we have to focus on putting in practice the things we've worked on in training.

"Inter have some absolutely top-class players but we're out to avenge our defeat at San Siro."
