SANTON: "ATTITUDE WILL BE KEY TOMORROW"

The Nerazzurri defender also stressed the importance of three points while denying San Siro is a problem for the team at today's pre-match press conference

APPIANO GENTILE – Speaking alongside head coach Frank de Boer, Davide Santon called upon his fellow Nerazzurri players to make sure their attitude is spot on against Southampton tomorrow.

"We have to put the defeat against Cagliari behind us but analyse what went well and what didn't," the Italian defender began to the assembled media. "We need to go for the three points tomorrow. Our first two games in the Europa League didn't go as we'd planned, so it's vital we get the win."

Santon also addressed claims that Inter often freeze when playing at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza: "I don't think the stadium is the problem. We don't pay attention to what's happening around us when we step out onto the pitch. We controlled the game for 70 minutes on Sunday, hardly giving any chances away, but we withdrew within ourselves a bit after we had gone into the lead. We're Inter and we have to dominate proceedings for the entire match.

"There was a strange atmosphere on Sunday, but I still don't think that was the reason for the defeat. You always want the support of the crowd when you play at home and our fans have always delivered in this respect.

"The most important thing is the team's attitude going into the game," the Nerazzurri left-back concluded. "We have great players but on a few occasions we haven't got the approach right. Tomorrow we have to be concentrated from the first whistle to the last."
