MILAN – Mauro Icardi has spoken of his delight after Inter beat Juventus 2-1 at San Siro in the Derby d’Italia on Sunday night.
"If we played every match like that we’d have lots to celebrate," the Inter captain told Mediaset Premium after the game. "Playing teams like Juventus is what it’s all about for us."
Icardi continued his fantastic scoring record against Juventus on Sunday, bagging the equaliser to cancel our Stephan Lichtsteiner’s opener.
"I score a few against Juventus and that’s great for me. We need to keep this up because we have another game on Wednesday and now we must focus on that. I’m happy to provide assists if they help us win – it was great to see Perisic score."
The Nerazzurri striker also came out in support of coach Frank de Boer, after a tough week in Appiano Gentile.
"Football can be hard on coaches, because at the end of the day it’s the players who walk out onto the field. The coach has given us a real desire to press high and today we’ve proved we can do that and shown what we’re capable of."
