MILAN – Andrea Ranocchia believes there is no excuse for Inter’s 2-0 home defeat by Hapoel Be’er Sheva at San Siro on Thursday night.
"We wanted the result to turn out differently but it didn’t go well," the Inter defender told Sky Sport Italia after the final whistle. "As of tomorrow we need to work hard to recover and make sure we get through the group.
"There’s lots of work to do – we’re still a bit behind on our fitness. We’re really disappointed with the result, but we have a fascinating match and a tough one against Juventus now. It’s not your average game and we want to win," declared Ranocchia.
Ranocchia was adamant that Inter had to face up to the defeat rather than pointing at external factors.
"We’re Inter and we can’t go looking for excuses. We need to be working hard, every day. It’s not easy to learn a new way of working when you have a managerial change alongside lots of matches, but we have to stop losing these games and keep working day in, day out to improve.
"We’re still a far cry from the Inter we all want to see – the results aren’t going our way but I have faith."
