PESCARA – Inter captain Mauro Icardi was the match winner against Pescara, and he offered some of his thoughts after the clash at the Stadio Adriatico.
"It’s not down to my goals, it’s down to the whole team. Everyone has a role to play out there. Scoring goals is part of my job and I always try my best," the Argentine forward said.
"We fought right until the end, because we always want to win. We worked really well as a team today. We created a lot of chances, but we couldn’t hit the back of the net. I’m happy to have scored two goals.
"When you try to really play football, you might be hurt on the counter attack. In the first half, we spent the whole 45 minutes in their half of the pitch, and we tried to do the same in the second half.
"We’re doing what the boss tells us. We played with great intensity today, pressing high and I think all this work was what earned us the win."
When asked who he dedicates this match to, Icardi said: "To my family and all those who always support me."
Looking ahead to the game against Juventus, the Inter captain admitted that the Bianconeri are the team to beat this season.
"They’ve won the last few league titles. They’ve made reinforcements, but so have we. We’ll see what happens. We’ll go into the game to win, as we always do."
As regards a new contract with the club, he commented: "I’ll talk about it with the club. I’m calm."
