MILAN – The empty summer months have passed and we're finally ready for another Serie A season! Inter kick off the new campaign away to Chievo on Sunday night (20:45 CEST) looking to claim their 18th league victory against the Verona-based side.
The Nerazzurri have got off to a good start in the last four seasons, keeping clean sheets in all of their league openers since 2012/13 (W3, D1). However, the last time they met Chievo on the opening day, in August 2004, it ended 2-2.
Eder, Antonio Candreva and Mauro Icardi have fond memories of playing against the Gialloblu.
The Brazil-born Italy forward has found the net in four of his last six meetings with Chievo including in his two most recent visits to the Bentegodi. On Sunday he'll be looking to hit goal number 50 in Serie A.
His Azzurri team-mate's last double came against the Gialloblu while playing for Lazio last term.
Meanwhile the Nerazzurri skipper hit the target in both league encounters with Chievo in 2015/16, both goals proving to be match-winning strikes.
Frank de Boer is set for his competitive debut in the Inter dugout but will be without the suspended Jeison Murillo.
