RISCONE DI BRUNICO – Inter midfielder Felipe Melo believes that the work the Nerazzurri are doing during their pre-season training camp in Brunico can give them a huge boost ahead of the 2016/17 season.
"The training camp is crucial to help us prepare well for the season," said Melo, speaking to Inter Channel after training on Wednesday. "I always try to keep myself fit over the summer, but I’ve not had a proper pre-season in four years.
"The Italian league is the toughest in the world so we need to be ready and the tactical work we’re doing now can make all the difference."
Melo said he had high expectations of himself ahead of the new season: "Last year I started very well but then I dipped because I’d not had a pre-season. I’m expecting to improve a lot – I’m here to give my all and win silverware in this shirt. We are Inter and we should be aiming for the very top."
Finally, Melo spoke about the young players currently training with the first-team squad: "I was a youngster once too so I try to help them when they need it. The great thing about football is that everyone can learn from anyone – we can learn from them too."
