APPIANO GENTILE - Mauro Icardi is raring to go ahead of the new season and believes great things lie ahead for Inter.
"We've all enjoyed a bit of time off and now we come back with the same intentions as every year - to do as well as we possibly can," the club captain told Inter Channel on the day the players reported back for pre-season training.
Inter have come under new ownership since the team was last in Appiano Gentile and Mauro is confident that can only be a good thing for the club.
"I kept track of everything going on. I'm sure the new owners will be good for Inter, just as Moratti and Thohir have been in recent years.
"Our aim is to be playing in the Champions League again because Inter are one of the biggest clubs in the world and deserve to be in it. We just came up short last year but now we want to achieve great things.
"It's a big responsibility for me to wear the captain's armband once worn by Zanetti but it makes me very proud."
The captain also revealed that he's excited about coming into close contact with the fans again when Inter's summer training camp kicks off on Wednesday.
"We can't wait to see all our supporters in Brunico. We know they'll turn out in huge numbers and that's a big boost for us. Football is not the same without the fans. Interisti always make their presence felt and get behind us."
