MILAN – Joao Miranda’s first season at Inter saw the Brazilian make 34 appearances in all competitions and score one goal, against Sampdoria at San Siro.
The lynchpin of the Nerazzurri defence that conceded just seven goals in 13 matches at the start of the Serie A season, Miranda instantly established himself as a key component of Roberto Mancini’s side, with only Samir Handanovic and Jeison Murillo contesting more minutes over the course of the campaign.
Miranda marked his debut with an assist for Stevan Jovetic and never looked back from there, captaining the side in the absence of Mauro Icardi and finding the net against Sampdoria. His consistency meant he was certainly one of the best defenders in Serie A last season.
