REGGIO EMILIA - Rey Manaj and Mattia Bonetto stepped up to share their thoughts on the match and the season as a whole after the Nerazzurri U19s were knocked out of the Primavera championship Final Eight by Roma in a penalty shootout.
The Albanian striker, who sent the contest to extra time by converting a late penalty and then added a brilliant second to give Inter a temporary 3-2 lead, expressed his disappointment but was keen to quickly move on and aim for even greater things.
"We're all sad to lose this game because we were looking good,” he told Inter Channel. “We made a few mistakes but we can't do anything about it now. We just need to get over it and try to do even better next season.
“I'm pleased with how my first season went. I've supported Inter ever since I was a child and I'll always give my all for this team. I think I've improved my game in lots of ways but I'm young and have to keep growing by training hard.”
Meanwhile the midfielder accepted the verdict graciously, saying the players could have done no more.
“It's fair enough. We came this far by putting everything into it. We lost but we never gave anything less than 100%, from the first minute to the last. That's just how it went today.
“We've all made lots of improvement since the start of the year – losing at Viareggio helped us to grow too. Lots of people have changed opinion about us. We won the Coppa Italia and not everyone can say that.
“The best moments were the really hard-fought victories like in the derby and when I scored at Juventus Stadium.”
