PONTE LAMBRO – Marco Mandelli’s Giovanissimi Regionali side have won their third straight Giacinto Facchetti Memorial Cup with a 2-0 win over AC Milan in the final on Sunday.
The young Nerazzurri had raced into the final with victories over Pro Patria (6-0) and Renate (2-0), setting up a mouth-watering clash with crosstown rivals AC Milan in the tournament showpiece.
There were no signs of nerves from Inter, with Barazzetta handing Mandelli’s side a 1-0 lead after just six minutes. And it was all but over five minutes later as Tordini – who was later named best player at the tournament – added a second.
There was to be no fightback from the Rossoneri and come the final whistle it was Inter lifting the trophy for the third successive year.
