TOKYO – There are more than 9700 kilometres separating Milan and Tokyo but passion for football transcends distances and there are plenty of Nerazzurri-mad Inter Club members in Japan.

The club president Unno Shun explains how the members use the club, showing the same passion despite the distance and bringing together Inter fans in Japan.

How and when was Inter Club Japan started?

"The club was set up in 2011 with the aim of uniting as many fans in our country as possible."

Is there any event you've put on as an Inter Club that you're proud of?

"When Javier Zanetti was still playing and got injured, we wanted him to feel our support and sent him a Senbazuro – a typical construction of one thousand pieces of origami which in our culture is a symbol of good luck."

Which Inter Club Coordination Centre event do your members recall the most?

"Given the distance it's difficult to take part in many initiatives dedicated to members but we were happy and proud to be part of the video sending birthday wishes to Inter."

How do you involve junior members?

"Most of our junior members are the sons of senior members. We try to pass down the tradition of supporting one team in the nuclear family."

How do you work as a club?

"We meet for dinner, football tournaments and obviously to watch the games. We try to create moments where people come together and support the team we all love. We also managed to organise a trip to San Siro some time ago, that was an unforgettable experience."
